2011.12.21 | 2012 Event List is Live!
The 2012 line-up at Hallway Gallery is an exciting one; and kicking it off is Sjer Jacobs. The Dutch born Jacobs has been with us for six years and is one of our most collected artists.

His work, which is figurative in nature, moves with a simplicity that belies its complex nature. Using dry pigments and acid emulsions, the artist’s line work and subtle patterning indicate the interactions we have everyday with those around us.

Sjer Jacobs’ work is warm and contemplative yet remains largely approachable to many. His tremendous success both at home in the Netherlands and here in the United States is evidence of his immense talent.

Sjer Jacobs runs from January 5th - 30th at Hallway Gallery with opening reception Thursday, January 5th, 2012 from 6:00 PM –9:00 PM.

2011.08.01 | Hallway Gallery Named Best of 425... AGAIN!
Summer is now in full swing at Hallway Gallery and with it brings a great deal of exciting news.

In June Amy Spassov returned to the gallery with her most successful show to date. The new body of work employed the idea of synchronized swimmers as a means to illustrate the artist’s vision of order within disorder. The show, having sold seventeen works during the exhibition, speaks largely to what is sure to be a long and storied career for this emerging artist.

July was an equally exciting month with the first solo show for Daniel Ochoa and the honor of Hallway Gallery being named Best of 425 for the second year running. The gallery celebrated with fellow Best of 425 winners Gelotte Hommes Architects, Craig Williams Interiors, Hammish Anderson Builders and last but not least Pinkabella. With well over one hundred guests in attendance, the celebration was a chance for all of the winners to thank friends and clients alike. For more of the Best of 425 winners go to 425Magazine.com.

Gretchen Gammell will return in August for her fifth show with the gallery. Her latest body of work explores all things aloft. Planes, hot air balloons and kites abound in what is sure to be a hit with existing and new collectors alike. This show also marks a decade as an artist for Gammell and as such the gallery is simultaneously curating a ten-year retrospective of the artist’s works. For those who already collect Gammell’s work and for those who have been thinking of adding this famed Northwest artist to their collection this will be a must-attend event. Gretchen Gammell The First Ten Years opens August 4th, 2011 at Hallway Gallery.

2011.01.25 | Two Powerful Female Arwork Exhibitions
Abby Grosvenor is a curious subject. To be near her is to feel better. Perhaps it is her Buddhist practices, or her stunning beauty or her years of experience as a creative person. Whatever it is, at nearly seventy years of age, Abby Grosvenor has forged a path with art that is not only an indication of her view of the world, but also one that imparts who she is in life. Her latest body of work, while manifested as landscapes, pulls from significant numerical figures in the Buddhist religion. These numbers act as a stabilizing force in her work as her hand and eye work to create these chance images.

Hallway Gallery will host not one, but two strong female artists in the month of February as JD Hansen returns for a follow up exhibition to her September 2010 artist discussion. Hansen’s bronze sculpture work is unique in that it is so clearly a depiction of herself. Her ability to use her image while simultaneously vacating any trace of vanity suggests the artist’s innate ability to bring the viewer into a familiar moment. Her textural surface and subtle posturing serve to further inform this moment.

Abby Grosvenor and JD Hansen open at Hallway Gallery on Friday, February 4th 2011.
